Formats of the Battles
5TH CHAMBER EMPHASIZES THE ESSENCE OF HIP HOP AND THE DIVERSITY OF ITS FORMS OF EXCHANGE. OUR MISSION CAN BE SPLIT INTO THE FOLLOWING THREE GOALS:
Top 16 K.O. System
1v1 Battles (self-explanatory…)
Hip Hop Grand Prix
This unique format has a system developed which values the connection of two dancers. 10 dancers get mixed in 5 random pairs, each pair gets 2,5 minutes to connect and vibe together. They get rated by three judges with points from 1-10. In order to create the best circumstances for unconditional trust, both dancers collect the same points. After the first round, a ranking will be created, like in Mario Cart. After 3 Rounds (with new 5 pairings each), the Top 3 Dancers are declared. It’s practically the opposite of a Battle, without losing the aspect of an overarching competition (of who has the best ability to connect).
Cypher Games
In the first round, three simultaneous cypher with one judge each are created. The judge starts the cypher with a topic, which must stay the main conversation throughout the 20 minutes. Each Judge chooses 2 people from their cypher, which a decision which is focused on how good the dancer could understand the conversation, respond and keeping it short/on point.
The final cypher will add two guests, making it eight dancers in the circle. This final cypher won’t have a topic set, instead it will develop naturally. The judging still focuses still on how good the individuals communicated and let the conversation develop. One Cypher Queen and one Cypher King will be selected (as of now…)
